Tender description
The Social Mobility Commission is inviting innovative proposals for a piece of research that focuses on the relationship between parental background and young people’s access to homeownership. This research forms part of the Social Mobility Commission’s role as an advocate for social mobility in the UK, and will inform the 2016 State of the Nation report to Parliament. Access to home ownership is an important part of the social mobility story. The aim of this research is to look specifically at the following question: • How is family support impacting access to homeownership for young people in the UK? Evidence for this question should be gathered using quantitative methods. We are particularly interested in the impact of inter-generational transfers of housing assets to date and into the future. Below are further details on the proposed approach for this question. A research tender has been put out simultaneously which is inviting proposals for research into the effectiveness of schemes to increase home ownership in the UK and similar countries. The Commission seeks original, ambitious and robust proposals. Bids will be judged primarily on the proposed approach, expertise of team and value for money.
