16-009 Pithouse West Ground Investigations

Tender description

Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking consultants to undertake ground investigations on the Pithouse West site at Chesterfield Road, Rotherham. The ground investigations are required to assess the contamination on the site and the potential for migration on to the adjacent site. They will also examine the gas regime at the site based on monitoring of the boreholes over an extended period of time. Geotechnical testing will be carried out to characterise the nature of the fill materials. We require a comprehensive report as detailed in the appended specification. As part of any options appraisal prepared in accordance with CLR 11, the report must consider and include clear recommendations for actions to mitigate/remediate the land for 2 particular options. These are: a) remediation to prevent any contamination migration to the adjacent land (currently proposed for a family theme park); b) remediation to enable the landowner (Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC) to develop the site in the future. The Council also requires provision of a warranty for the Site Investigations for RMBC, and third party (collateral) warranties for the future owner of the adjacent land and any future owner/developer of this site itself (should RMBC wish to dispose of/develop it in the future.
