Tender description

Background to this Framework: The Trust has a requirement for Surgical Services to supplement in-house services in the treatment of patients where it is anticipated that they cannot be treated within reasonable time-scales by the Trust in-line with national and local access targets. Historically the Trust has had frameworks in place for both the insourcing and outsourcing of the following surgical specialities: — General Surgery, — Trauma and Orthopaedics, — ENT, — Plastic Surgery, — Ophthalmology, — Urology, — Pain Services, — OMFU, — Gynaecology. How the Framework will Operate: The Framework will operate in support of the Trust's aims for the service. The overall aims of the Services are: — To provide a quality service which can be called upon at relatively short notice; — To prevent inappropriate waiting times for patients; — To enable delivery of a patient pathway from referral to treatment that removes unnecessary delay in treatment; — To establish a positive working relationship between the Trust and the Provider to facilitate and maximise service delivery, the emphasis being on timely, quality care. The Services are targeted at patients who cannot be treated within reasonable time-scales by the Trust in-line with national and local access targets. The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is inviting tenders from providers for Internal (on-site at Chester) and External (off-site) Surgical Services. The Trust anticipates awarding a framework to several suppliers to provide it with an ad hoc service which can help assist it with patients on an 18 week pathway. The Required Services will be divided into 2 Lots: Lot 1 Internal (On-site at Chester) Surgical Services; Lot 2 External (Off-site) Surgical Services. The Provider(s) will be responsive to changes over time, and work with the Trust in adapting the service in order to meet the changing needs of the patients.
