Tender description

The British Library has a requirement to procure conversion services to render data held on card files into electronic format. The requirement relates to completion of the Union Catalogue of Books data conversion, for publications issued since 1950. It is estimated that the catalogue contains 833,000 cards. The supplier is required to remove explicit duplicate records (est. 15%) and deliver structured data files for further processing by British Library. Output in MARC 21/UNICODE UTF8 is preferred, but other structured formats, may be accepted if competitively priced. Production is to commence in Q1 2006 and to be completed by end Q3 2007.
