Replacement of Institute Lighting - Phase II

Tender description

The main objective of this work is to use existing in situ T8 type fluorescent fittings with standard switch controls and reconfigure these to allow for insertion of LED light tubes. The fittings in question are generally of a surface mounted metal clad fitting with category 2 diffuser type and house 1500 mm T8 fluorescent type light tubes. These will be replaced by 1500 mm LED equivalent T8 light tubes. Preference for the T8 LED tubes is NET 1500/18/26/T8-PW as supplied by NET LED Ltd, details can be found on: www.netledlighting.co.uk, or of a similar type and suitable quality. The majority of the fittings included in the project will be twin fittings housing two T8 light tubes. It is anticipated that the majority of fittings will remain in situ and be rewired to house the new LED light tubes; however if the condition of the existing fitting is in question this should be discussed with the Project Manager. To this end it is also a requirement to quote for a surface mounted metal clad fitting with category 2 diffuser type for example Thorn popular pack surface mounted standard fitting or similar and associated labour and costs, should this need arise. The majority of the existing tubes are T8 fluorescent light tubes however some existing fittings may be single T10 fittings and tubes, and so it will be a requirement to supply a cost for these should a need arise.
