Provision of Cardiology Diagnostic Testing in the Community

The NHS South West Essex PCT is seeking providers who can provide high quality Cardiology Diagnostic services in a community setting across the South West Essex area, to achieve the following: • Improve the quality of life for low risk patients by providing rapid access to diagnostics and treatment of cardiac symptoms in a setting closer to home. • To support the NHS East of England pledge to ensure fewer people suffer or die prematurely from heart disease • Increase choice for patients by offering community based services at times and venues that suit patient needs • Manage patients safely and effectively within the primary care setting • Reduce unplanned hospital admissions and waiting times for services within secondary care to assist the achievement of the 18 weeks pathway • Identify trends and improve understanding of service demand • Develop and deliver innovative services which are cost effective and achieve efficiency savings. • Integrated care pathways across the health system/holistic care • Improve the quality of GP referral and management of cardiology within primary care This service will be commissioned as a 1 year contract. As the service will be commissioned under any-qualified provider arrangements, payment will be made on a ‘per consultation’ basis at the following rate; therefore there is no guarantee of income: 24hr ECG £90 24hr BPM £90 Echo £61 Interpretation of 12 Lead ECG £15 Neither the PCT nor potential providers will be obligated to further commitment as a result of initial expressions of interest. Provider Application Templates (PATs) will be sent out on Friday 5th August. PAT Applications must be received back by no later than Monday 5th September. The PCT reserves the right to refuse any PATs received after this time and date. PATs will not be available after Friday 5th August.
