Project North Interior Design and Space Planning

Tender description

The contract is for the supply of Space Planning and Interior Design Consultancy Services for Project North - currently under construction at Salford, UK. The complex comprises three buildings with a total net internal area of 330,000 sq ft and an anticipated population of around 2500 staff. The core design of the Category B fit-out will be signed off in spring 2008. With the BBC's challenging occupancy targets combined, with a track record of an innovative approach to workspace design, there is now an exciting opportunity to realise the BBC's ambitions to deliver a green and agile working environment with genuinely new ways of working. The space planning services will involve engagement with end users from key departments (Sport, Children's,…etc) who are located in London and Manchester in order to understand their detailed operational requirements as a basis for test layouts and detailed furniture layouts. The interior design services will involve the development of an overall interior design concept to build on the developer's base scheme. Specifically it will include the design and selection of all loose furniture and fittings, the integration of specific end user department's interior design aspirations, the design of tenant fit-out items over and above the Category B fit-out and finally the design of all applied finishes. This is a significant opportunity for the BBC to develop and implement innovative programme making processes and are looking to the Interior Designer to bring innovation in workplace design with a particular emphasis on providing a truly flexible environment, facilitating agile working and a place where people want to come to work, The appointed services contractor will be the lead designer for these activities and will be expected to work as part of an already established integrated team lead by a project manager.
