Tender description

Hampshire Constabulary wishes to contract with a suitable provider for the provision of a Nurse led Police Custody Healthcare Service and on call Forensic Medical Examiner Service to Hampshire Constabulary on a 24 hour / 7 day per week, 365/366 days a year basis, to meet the healthcare needs of people in Police Custody and to carry out healthcare and forensic examinations on suspects, witnesses, sudden deaths and Authority personnel at such locations as the Authority requests. The Service Provider will operate a single point of contact/call centre through which the force can call at any time of the day or night, every day of the year including all public holidays, to ask for Healthcare Services and Forensic Medical Services. The service is Commissioned by the Custody Healthcare Partnership Board on behalf of Hampshire Constabulary for a period of 5 years commencing 01 October 2013, this will be based upon an initial period of 3 years with the option to extend by for a period of 2 years (1 + 1). The service will be delivered through 24/7 provision of appropriately trained and qualified healthcare practitioners on site at the designated Custody Suites with support to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police. This will provide Custody Officers with timely, consistent healthcare expertise and advice in the assessment and treatment of detainees, Police Officers and Police Staff. In addition, all Custody Suites will have access to Hampshire Constabulary approved visiting healthcare practitioners and immediate access to telephone advice. Services to be provided include: Nurse led Healthcare 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the provision Forensic Physicians when required, contemporaneous records and statements in relation to forensic work undertaken by healthcare staff, to attend and provide evidence in court where appropriate.
