Tender description

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is seeking a supplier to provide an online news information service providing content from a wide selection of news publications. We intend to contract with a single supplier who can offer a web based application providing current and historical content from a variety of newspapers, magazines and specialist titles published in the United Kingdom and overseas. This service will form part of an essential research resource available to BBC staff and will be delivered through the BBC intranet website. We would however envisage that the solution would also be accessible through the internet, PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) and other mobile devices. The BBC anticipates a subscription base of 10,000 users to the service, of which an estimated 50% would be classed as regular users, the other 50% occasional. The following provisions of service shall be regarded as key requirements: 1. The solution must meet with compatibility standards for the BBC desktop; capable of interfacing with numerous internal systems; and comply with BBC guidelines for both accessibility and diversity. Provide searchable content from all major UK National and UK Regional newspapers. A broad range of additional UK/International news publications will also be expected. 3. Offer an extensive archive.
