NHS CONTINUING HEALTHCARE RETROSPECTIVE REVIEWS SERVICE: The National Framework for NHS Continuing Healthcare was introduced in 2007 (and revised in 2009) to ensure that a nationally consistent process was in place for the consideration of eligibility for NHS Continuing Healthcare. East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group, Leicester City Clinical Commissioning Group and West Leicestershire Clinical Commissioning Group ('the Commissioners') are seeking providers to undertake the assessment process and to make eligibility recommendations supported by strong evidence and rationale to the Commissioners for consideration of eligibility for NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding both for retrospective and live cases which have been previously un-assessed for NHS Continuing Healthcare. In March 2012 the Department of Health ('DoH') announced the introduction for additional deadlines for submission of claims for retrospective assessments and introduced a process which would enable any individual who should have been assessed from 1.4.2004 to 31.3.2012 to be identified and be considered as soon as possible. All assessments and supporting evidence and rationale will be in accordance and be compliant with the requirements and processes identified in the National Framework for Continuing Healthcare (2012) and NHS Funded Nursing Care (2013) and all associated guidance and case law relating to it.
