NHS Buckinghamshire 111 Service

Tender description

The 111 service is intended to make it easier for people to access the right local health services when they need help quickly, but it isn't life-threatening, so does not require a 999 call. It is a telephone advice line that will be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and will be free to call from both landlines and mobile phones. The aims of the service are to:  Simplify access to health services for patients;  Direct people to the service that is best able to meet their needs and to provide immediate medical advice for minor illnesses and injuries;  Relieve some of the pressure on the 999 service and Accident and Emergency departments;  Enable the commissioning of more effective and productive healthcare services that are tuned to meet peoples’ needs;  Ensure better use of health and social services resources. The Service will deliver improved access to services through a single telephone number supported by a single clinical assessment process and a comprehensive directory of services; helping improve patient outcomes and providing patient access to the right service at the right time, and in the right place.
