M6 Shap Fell Northbound

Tender description

Location The scheme is located on the M6 northbound carriageway (MP434/7 to MP440/7) between junctions 38 and 39. The southern limit being approximately 2km north of junction 38. The carriageway is dual three-lane motorway with hard shoulders. The works are to the northbound carriageway only. Details of Work The works include the following: •60mm inlay in lanes 2 & 3 between marker posts 434/7 to 440/7 (6km) •Approx 2km hardshoulder reconstruction, 150mm depth bituminous material on existing sub-base. •Approx 2km of 60mm inlay on hardshoulder •60mm inlay patches in Lane 1 (total length approx 500m) The works are programmed to commence on the 16th November 2009 and be completed by 21st December 2009 a period of 5 weeks. Traffic Management It is envisaged that the works will be undertaken under lane closures. There will be a mandatory 50mph speed restriction over the full length of the works.
