Tender description

Networks today are built using tightly coupled control and data planes. In future, Software Defined Networking (SDN) will allow for these two planes to be decoupled via an Application Programming Interface (API), allowing for dynamic adjustment of the key components of the network infrastructure such as Routers, Switches and DWDM optical Switches. Ofcom seek to establish a deeper understanding of the:- (1) Network Design; (2) Implementation of SDN and available equipment; (3) Network management; and (4) Potential business impact as the industry moves from vertically integrated networks such as PSTN, ATM, IP to distributed IP networks based around open specifications such as OpenFlow.
