Tender description

The British Library is seeking expressions of interest from a limited number of appropriately qualified and experienced integrators to provide a fully automated storage and retrieval system for this facility. The scope of supply is the design, supply and installation of an integrated materials handling system with goods to man picking and approximately 85 accessions per hour (each requiring a retrieval and a put-away of a load unit). The system will include the following components: • Automatic storage & retrieval units (cranes / miniloads) • Bar coded load units to carry newspapers • Racking • Conveyor system • Manipulation of load unit to present appropriately to operator pick stations • Warehouse Management System (WMS) and all associated computer hardware and software • Interface between WMS and the existing Library Automated Book Request System (ABRS). • Full commissioning and testing of the system • Full maintenance and service contract for the first year of operation (Option)
