Tender description
Following a careful analysis of the options available to it, Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust (NGHT) have selected Genomic Health UK Ltd to assay the known genes that dictate how aggressive a breast cancer is; this assay then forms a score and demonstrates how likely a patient is to benefit from chemotherapy, thereby allowing us to reduce the amount of chemotherapy we need to give our patients by a third. It is therefore justified clinically to use, and is the only such test available on the market. Others are in development, but are still experimental at this stage and are not yet validated. In light of this analysis, the Trust has decided that selecting Genomic Health UK Ltd is in the best interests of its patients. This is subject to review on an annual basis.
