Cycle Loan Scheme

Tender description

The cycles are required for the council's cycle loan scheme. Based on last year, we do not have sufficient bikes in stock to meet demand in the spring and summer. Existing bikes are also showing wear and tear which affects their performance and resident satisfaction. New/additional bikes will increase capacity and reduce repairs during hire periods. The scheme provides the opportunity for residents to hire a bike for 1 month for £30 with an option to buy at the end of the period. This programme is part of a Sport England funded programme that includes purchase of bikes for the scheme. Unisex adult hybrid bicycles that are suitable for the cycle loan scheme. Must be robust, hard wearing and lightweight in design. To minimise the number of frame sizes needed the cycles will need wide adjustment level in saddle and handlebars. This capability can vary depending on brand. Cycles should be durable and be of sufficient quality in order to minimise repair and maintenance. Kona cycles or near equivalent are recommended.
