Collection, Slaughter, Salvage and Disposal of TB Affected Bovines – South West

Defra on behalf of Animal Health, is seeking Providers for the collection, slaughter, salvage and disposal of bovines affected by TB in the South West region. Successful organisations will be appointed onto a multi-supplier Framework that will be available for use by Animal Health in the UK. An overview of the Services required includes: • liaison with both Animal Health and farms to organise the collection of Cattle from farms; • transportation of Cattle from farm to Slaughterhouse (note that Providers will be permitted to sub-contract transportation); • slaughter of Cattle at the Slaughterhouse; • disposal of condemned Cattle carcasses and other waste arising; • invoice of the costs incurred in transporting, slaughtering, salvaging for the food chain and disposing of Cattle; • payment of the Salvage Value to Animal Helath as appropriate. The services have been sub-divided into four (4) categories (“Lots”), in the South West Region of England corresponding to the geographical regions managed by Animal Health offices as follows: Lot 1 - Devon Lot 2 - Cornwall Lot 3 - Somerset Lot 4 - Gloucestershire
