Tender description

The Illuminated River is a major new public art initiative for London, which will create an elegant and charismatic light art installation for 17 of London's most celebrated bridges — those between Albert and Tower. The total project cost is estimated to be 20 000 000 GBP. The funds will be raised, largely from private sources, by the Illuminated River Foundation (charity registration pending). The Foundation is supported by the Rothschild Foundation. Following the detailed design stage, it is anticipated that the design package will be transferred to the individual bridge owners. The Foundation encourages fresh and interesting collaborations between artists, lighting designers, architects, engineers, and technologists (and other professionals may be proposed within teams). The scope of this procurement is full design services up to RIBA Stage 4. The contract may be subject to renewal, up to RIBA Stage 7. For further details, please see the competition documentation.
