BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK Location The scheme is located on the two lane dual carriageway section of the A66 to the east of Greta Bridge between the Thorpe Grange and Newsham Grange junctions. In this area the A66 is unlit and in a rural environment. The two way AADT for this section of the A66 is approximately 15,000 with 27% HCVs. Details of Work The works involve the following: The construction of a central reserve crossover and the opening of an existing crossover in order to facilitate the utilisation of a contra flow system of traffic. A 65mm inlay treatment with localised areas of deeper inlay will be applied to lanes 1 and 2 of this 1.5km section of east bound carriageway. The works will be carried out using 24hour/day contra flow traffic management in order to minimise network occupancy. Traffic Management A contra flow system of traffic management will be utilised for the works to the esat bound carriageway. The length of the contra flow system of traffic management will be approximately 2.0km excluding the approach traffic management.
