16-33 Design and Construction of ECMS Spoke 1 - Thomas Dudley Site

Tender description

The University is seeking an experienced Contractor to develop the Elite Centre of Manufacturing & Skills (ECMS) Spoke 1 Site. The scheme involves an enabling works package that will be undertaken by a demolition contractor in which it is envisaged that the site will be cleared, the existing foundations removed and the whole area graded to appropriate levels across the site, followed by the perimeter of the site being secured with solid hoarding in anticipation for the main works. These works are scheduled to complete on the 14th September 2016. The new development on the site will need to deliver a high quality building for the provision of training classrooms, workshops for practical training in foundry and forging operations, administrative offices and additional office space for key partners including the Institute of Cast Metal Engineers (iCME), the Cast Metal Federation (CMF) and Thomas Dudley. The design is due to be issued at RIBA Stage 3 with the main contractor developing the scheme from RIBA Stage 4 to 6. The all-inclusive project budget including professional fees, enabling works, FF&E and VAT is £3 million gross. The current design provides a GIA circa 1200m2. The ECMS building is due to open in August 2017. The works will be procured under a JCT 2011 Design & Build form of contract with amendments that will be confirmed via addendum. The Qualification section will be assessed on a pass/fail basis in accordance with the standard qualification questions implemented in PAS91.
