Tender description

The University of Southampton is constructing new facilities, and part of this development effort is the update of experimental facilities. This bid specification document addresses one of the requirements, namely a new sediment flume facility required primarily for research purposes. The sediment flume facility will be installed in a newly constructed building at the University of Southampton's campus. The new building is known as Boldrewood Block H (Building 185). This contract is for the design, manufacture, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning complete of the re-circulating flume in accordance with the requirements and performance criteria detailed within this Technical Specification. The proposals and installations shall comply with all relevant legislation / standards applicable to an installation / equipment of the type concerned, current at the date of tender return including as applicable (but not limited to) British and European Standards, CIBSE guides, CDM Regulations, accepted best practice standards/ procedures, and shall be fit for purpose etc. The contractor's proposals must be developed to accommodate the spacial constraints of the building accounting for the access route into/ through the building and the final destination within the building whilst also considering health and safety aspects such as access routes around the facilities once in position/ commissioned, maintenance of them etc. To help bidders, here is a high overview of the scoring mechanism. (sub criteria will be published in the Tender Documents). Price: 50 %. Technical suitability and evaluation 40 %. Track record of similar installations/ service training and support: 10 %.
