BIM Seaweed Development Programme 2016

Tender description

BIM would now like to invite tenders to provide project management and labour associated with this seaweed project to produce 20Kms seeded string (Alaria esculenta and Saccharina latissima) and field analysis and hatchery manipulation of Porphyra umbilicalis. Also tank growth of Palmaria palmata. The work is to be carried out in Ireland. The successful tenderer will be required to demonstrate the delivery of a high quality and reliable service. They must show that they have or have access to the required fully equipped duly licensed marine research facility with sufficient indoor and outdoor tank capacity including temperature controlled rooms and cabinets (7.5 m³ total outdoor volume and 8m³ total indoor volume should be adequate). They must have a proven track record (produced 10 Kms brown seaweed seeded collector string in one season) in the handling and manipulation of the named seaweeds.
