Tender description

PURCH1158 Provision of Removal Services. The project is focussed to move the Hunterian Collections from current locations across various University of Glasgow (UoG) storage facilities to a new combined facility at the Kelvin Hall, Dumbarton Road, Glasgow. The refurbished Kelvin Hall building will accommodate a number of partners and a variety of facilities: — Glasgow Club; Glasgow Life Gym facility; — Glasgow Museums; Museum store; — National Libraries Scotland; Scottish Screen Archive (moving images resource centre). Access to deliver collections at new Kelvin Hall storage facility will be via the goods entrance on Old Dumbarton Road, Glasgow. Contractor acting on behalf of UoG will be provided with 2 days access per week during which they will be able to deliver the collection into the store, after which the UoG decant team will place in position within the store. Contractors acting for the partners will also be allocated access time to the loading bay to meet their needs. Days and timings of access will be organised amongst the building manager, the partners and their contractors to the mutual benefit and agreement of all partners, landlord and building manager. The move will be enacted in discreet phases as set out within the attached programme, or otherwise as agreed, currently anticipated to occur between May 2016 and June 2017. The items to be moved are generally as set out in the attached museum storage survey report, (Appendix B) and as viewed at storage locations during compulsory site visit. Successful contractor will provide management and planning support to assist Hunterian and UoG in final planning of the decant process, and on an ongoing basis will take part in partner management meetings with the Hunterian and UoG Kelvin Hall Project Manager. The purpose of these meetings will be to agree amongst the partners the activity and access for coming week, and to provide a progress tracking report to UoG and the building manager.
