BIM, the Irish Sea Fisheries Board, is the state agency set up to promote the sustainable development of the Seafood Industry. BIM’s mission is to grow a thriving Irish seafood industry, expand the raw material base, add value and develop efficient supply chains that together deliver on the Government’s Food Harvest 2020 targets for seafood and create sustainable jobs. Carrying out national policy with regard to seafood development, BIM has been carrying out inshore surveys on a yearly basis for the past 8 years using its own survey vessel, the MV T.BURKE. Working from early spring to late autumn, the main working area is the Southeast Irish Sea and its primary task is to locate and report on the subtidal seed mussel beds. In addition, the vessel has been involved in various projects all around the coast of Ireland. BIM is now seeking tenders for the Provision of a Skipper for the BIM Inshore Survey Boat MV T.Burke. A detailed specification of requirement can be found in Section 2 of this document. The services required will fall under the governance of a framework agreement. The duration of this framework agreement will be for up to a maximum of four (4) years subject to satisfactory annual review of performance and to budgetary constraints. For the avoidance of doubt, the Contracting Authority confirms that the period of any contracts awarded under the framework agreement may extend beyond the date of expiry of the framework.
