Seafarer Projections Review

Tender description

The research produced for this review will provide evidence on forecasts which identify the requirement for trained seafarers. The outcomes of this work will contribute to a further review on the Support for Maritime Training (SMarT) funding scheme which was last reviewed in 2011 to see if it was still needed to support UK maritime training and whether adjustments were necessary. Since then further changes have occurred and it is timely to initiate a further review. The purpose of this review of Seafarer Projections is to provide evidence of the requirements for trained seafarers in the UK. This will assist both government and industry to plan ahead and to make efforts to address priority shortages where gaps are identified.
