The University of Salford is making a major investment into modernising the building infrastructure and equipment at its School of Computing, Science & Engineering. This project has been part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), and a number of opportunities will arise between December 2015 and September 2017 around both construction and provision of technical equipment for various laboratories. A requirement now exists in the School of Computing, Science & Engineering to procure two items of laboratory equipment to enable undergraduate students to study the fundamentals of jet engine propulsion and the fundamentals of wind turbine operation associated with three phase electrical power generation. To achieve the above, this equipment will typically include a self contained jet engine teaching demonstration system and a similar self contained wind turbine power generation teaching demonstration system. The lowest value has been declared at £25,000 but the University does not know at this stage what the actual value might be.
