Contruction of a new road bridge and approaches at Mullantiboyle, Glenties Co. Donegal

Tender description

This scheme will entail online replacement of the existing bridge and aproaches, including excavation of limited amounts of material (both adjacent to and underneath the existing road). The existing road was closed following the collapse and will remain closed until the completion of the works. The proposed structure is located along the alignment of the existing L2693 and consists of precast beams made composite with a reinforced concrete slab. The substructure contains reinforced concrete bankseat abutments, supported on piles made integral with the deck at the diaphragms. Precast prestressed concrete ‘U’ beams with a reinforced concrete deck slab make up the superstructure. Beams are proposed to reduce the weight of the precast beam to mitigate impact during transportation, access and erection.
