Tender description

Cornwall Council requires a contractor to undertake exhibition design and fit out and wayfinding for the new Kresen Kernow archive centre for Cornwall, bringing together the world's largest collection of archives, rare books, photographs and recordings about Cornwall in a permanent purpose built home. We will be creating 2 exhibition spaces. The first exhibition space, on the ground floor, will be a flexible space designed in zones to display the collections around key interpretation themes, identified during consultation. The second exhibition space, on the first floor, will be environmentally controlled, enabling us to display more sensitive material. The 2 key roles: 1. To coordinate the detailed design, production and installation of the exhibition, working closely with the Teams to meet the delivery programme; 2. To coordinate the detailed design, production and installation of the building's wayfinding and non-statutory signage scheme. Cornwall Council requires the services of a contractor to undertake exhibition design and fit out and wayfinding for the new Kresen Kernow archive centre in Redruth, Cornwall. Kresen Kernow will be the new archive centre for Cornwall, bringing together the world's largest collection of archives, rare books, photographs and recordings about Cornwall in a permanent purpose built home. Alongside a state-of-the-art archive facility, we will be creating two exhibition spaces. The first exhibition space, on the ground floor, will be a flexible space designed in zones to display the breadth of our collections around key interpretation themes, identified during consultation. It should act as a stepping stone to further engagement. The second exhibition space, on the first floor, will be environmentally controlled, enabling us to display more sensitive material and borrow items from national collections. The 2 key roles for the contractor: 1. To coordinate the detailed design, production and installation of the exhibition in the allocated spaces, in line with the Kresen Kernow Exhibition Plan, working closely with the Architect-led Design Team and the Activity Programme Team, meeting the delivery programme of the project; 2. To coordinate the detailed design, production and installation of the building's wayfinding and non-statutory signage scheme. Plans of the site and exhibition zones are provided within the Invitation to Tender together with estimates of the signage/wayfinding requirements but the appointed supplier will be required to design, produce and install all of the exhibition supplies and services in the allocated spaces, in line with the Kresen Kernow Exhibition Plan, working closely with the Architect-led Design Team and the Activity Programme Team, to meet the delivery programme for the project. The appointed supplier will also coordinate the detailed design, production and installation of the building's wayfinding and non-statutory signage scheme for the Kresen Kernow archive centre.
