Sequencing of Insect Transcriptomes and Genomes

Tender description

The University of Exeter College of Life and Environmental Sciences wish to procure library preparation and next generation sequencing (DNAseq, RNAseq) of insect genomes and transcriptomes for a project looking at the molecular basis of insect resistance to natural and synthetic xenobiotics over the next five years. For this project we will be sequencing the transcriptomes and sequencing/resequencing the genomes of a significant number of insects (genome sizes of 500MB to 1.2TB). We will use this data to estimate gene expression, call SNPs and CNV. Finally we will bisulphite treat DNA samples and wish to have these sequenced in order to estimate the level of methylation in insect genomes of interest. We wish to identify a preferred supplier for this service to establish a framework agreement for sequencing on demand over the next five years up to the value of £86,986. For DNAseq we would require, PCR-free libraries and sequencing of genomic DNA on an Illumina HiSeq2500 using a 100bp or 250bp paired-end metric. For RNAseq we would require TruSeq RNA library prep and sequencing of RNA on an Illumina HiSeq2500 using a minimum of a 100bp paired-end metric. It would also be useful to have the option to carry out PacBio sequencing of genomic DNA.
