King's Gardens is a beautiful 17 acre Victorian Town Centre Park, located on Southport Promenade, and home to Grade II listed shelters, the ornate Venetian Bridge, unique play area, mini golf, café, model village, miniature railway all within a beautiful landscape. The gardens are a hype of activity all year round and are a busy tourist attraction on the Southport seafront, recently restored through a £5.5million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The local community and visitors where involved and still are today in helping to shape the project. As such SAF (Sefton Access Forum) have been greatly involved in ensuring the gardens became more accessible to enable a wider audience to enjoy the magnificent Garden. More information, including an overhead plan of the gardens can be found here: http://kingsgardens.sefton.gov.uk The Council is looking for a company to produce a short film to support the Educational Resource for King’s Gardens. The education resource is an up to date on-line resource for teachers (at present from Southport) to populate with lesson plans and resources from lessons they deliver at King’s Gardens. For the supplier to work with school children from the Green Machine (a group of children representing four Southport schools, three primary and one high) to produce the film; giving the pupils the opportunity to work behind and in front of the camera. A group of pupils from Christ the King School visited King’s Gardens and created a menu, illustrating the type of lessons that could take place in the Gardens. The film should aim to bring this menu to life. For the film to be created at the Gardens, to work with approximately 20 pupils representing the Green Machine.
