Tender description

establishments in Wirral. Wirral is a Metropolitan Borough of Merseyside in the North West of England with a population of approx 300,000 over 60 square miles. Further information about Wirral is available on our website (www.wirral.gov.uk). Storeton Quarry is an actively gassing ex-landfill site, now owned by Wirral Council. In 1993, the gas was found to be migrating into surrounding residential properties so a remediation scheme, which utilises an active venting gas management system, was put in place. The site is bounded by Mount Road, School Lane, Millfield Close, Derwent Road and Broomleigh Close and it covers an area of approximately 16,000m2 The site has a cordon of shallow gas vents up to 15 m deep at 2m centres on the Northern, Eastern and Southern boundaries. Additional protection is offered by a second set of deep wells which are located on the Northern end (30m deep) and Southern end (20-25m deep) of the site. Each of twelve automatic boreholes is sampled in turn over a 60 minute cycle. Should trigger levels be exceeded then gas extraction for the whole field is activated. The main requirements for this quotation request revolve around the need: o Maintenance of Gas Extraction Installation (routine quarterly maintenance, up to 2 emergency call-out repairs p.a.) and provide a hard or electronic report of the visit within 20 days o Maintenance of Automatic Landfill Gas Monitoring [ALGM] System (3 service visits per year including consumables) and provide a hard or electronic report of the visit within 20 days o Monitor the operation of the ALGM and react appropriately to rectify through visiting or liaising with Wirral Council o Identify and advise on plant that requires repair or replacement Keywords: monitoring, gas, software, maintenance
