Tender description

Kent Scientific Services (‘KSS') is Kent County Council’s in-house scientific services laboratory providing analytical and calibration services to businesses, local authorities and Her Majesty’s Coroners, including fulfilling the statutory Public Analyst function. KSS is looking to procure a new Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometer Triple Quadrupole instrument (‘GCMS’) to increase its capacity for testing food and animal feed products for compliance with legal standards and also a gas chromatography instrument with headspace sampler for use in analysing blood samples for alcohol levels. The system control software for the new instruments must be fully interoperable with the software currently in use in our laboratory to support flexibility of staffing when moving between 1 instrument technique and another. The current software in use is “MassHunter” or its predecessors. In addition, the new instruments must come with pre-developed methods for analysis of dioxins, dioxin like PCBs and non-dioxin like PCBs and also for blood alcohol, with validated statistical data. The instruments are to be delivered to Kings Hill, West Malling, Kent.
