Lancaster City Centre Masterplan and Investment Framework

Lancaster is one of the country’s most important historic and cultural destinations with over 2,000 years of history behind it. The city is now looking forward and is developing an ambitious vision for the next 25 years aimed at realising its potential and putting in place the infrastructure to bid for World Heritage Site and City of Culture status. Lancaster City Council is leading a partnership of organisations committed to fully realising the economic potential of the city by developing and implementing the vision. A great deal of work has been done by the many organisations with an interest in Lancaster but much remains to be done. As part of an emerging bid to Growth Deal round 3 the City Centre Masterplan sponsors want to ensure that a coherent case is made for investment into critical strategic projects. The case for inclusion in the Growth Deal of a contribution towards key city centre developments and critical enabling infrastructure needs to be articulated. We are now looking for suitably qualified consultants to pick up the many activities and opportunities existing in and around Lancaster centre and draw these together into an agreed long-term Vision for the city and an accompanying Investment Framework to turn the vision into reality. The successful consultant will evaluate Lancaster’s key strengths and highlight opportunities to raise the city’s profile and improve its attractiveness as a place to visit, live, work and invest in.
