Wave Energy Scotland (WES) is taking an innovative and unique approach to the development of wave energy technology in a new research programme. WES will support wave energy technology development until the technical and commercial risks are low enough for private investment to re-enter the sector. In order for WES to ensure the projects with the most promise are taken forward, independent external experts may be called upon to carry out assessment of project applications and to complement the WES team during decision making processes. WES is investigating options for having arrangements in place with a number of individuals (either as part of an organisation and/or sole traders) for provision of external expertise. Individuals appointed must have the technical knowledge, skills and experience in the wave energy sector, or from another industry with transferable skills. These external experts may be called upon periodically as the need arises for specific skills and will help complement the skills of the existing team, providing independent external expertise for project evaluation.
