Consultancy Services Required for the Transition to Adulthood Tracking & Scoping

As part of Sefton MBC’s commitment to helping young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) better prepare for adulthood, the Council is seeking to recruit a consultant to review destination and progression routes for young adults (25-31 year olds) who have participated in the education system. The Preparation for Adulthood agenda vision and mission is that ‘young people with SEN and disabilities have equal life chances as they move into adulthood, for example: paid employment, housing, independent living, choice and control, community inclusion, friends and relationships.’ The focus for this piece of work centres on progression routes and employment.The appointed consultant will review, assess and provide a detailed, written report on the progression of a specifically identified cohort focusing on: - Factors assisting progression - Identifiable barriers - Identification of common and variable factors - Numbers achieving employment/progression - Numbers entering Adult Social Care Sefton MBC will: - Identify a suitable cohort for analysis - Provide access to information/databases within an agreed protocol - Offer desk space in Council buildings if required The appointed consultant will: - Demonstrate a background in SEND/Further Education - Liaise with Adult Social Care - Analyse/evaluate/interpret data - Provide a detailed, written, summative report - Provide evidence of Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check - Provide 5 in depth individual case studies highlighting potential determining factors in progression to employment (or otherwise).
