Community-Based Falls Prevention & Bone Health Service

NHS Brent Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is exploring the delivery of community based consultant-led falls prevention and bone health management to the population of Brent. The CCG is inviting interested parties to engage with the organisation on future provision with a view to seeking input and feedback from potential providers of these services to help inform the CCG as it considers its requirements and routes to market. This service forms part of Brent CCG’s out-of-hospital strategy and prevention measures to reduce the harm from falls and repeated falls that risk fractures and other falls related injuries that potentially result in a hospital admission. A draft memorandum of Information (MoI) and draft current service specification are available for review. An engagement questionnaire has also been developed to capture input from providers to help inform the CCG’s key decisions around the delivery and route to market for this service. Brent CCG does not commission a comprehensive falls service in the community at present, with certain falls services delivered within the envelope of our overarching community service contract. If the CCG decides to undertake a formal procurement process then this is anticipated to commence in June 2016 through a notice on Contracts Finder, with the intention to have a contract awarded by the end of August 2016; for services to commence by October 2016. The estimated value of the contract is £320,000 per annum. Providers are invited to express their interest in the early engagement by emailing the completed questionnaire to alice_donovan1@nhs.net.
