Northamptonshire County Council are coming to the end of a 5 year contract for the provision of a number of services in the provision of support for Schools in operating the Capita SIMS environment. Historically, Northamptonshire County Council outsourced the support team for Schools. As part of this agreement, the licences for Capita SIMS were also sold back to Capita. Northamptonshire County Council currently take a number of services from Capita to provide consultancy services in the provision of a secure email solution and consultancy services to support the completion of Statutory returns. As part of LGSS, which includes Cambridgeshire County Council and Milton Keynes Council, this provides an opportunity to explore in-sourcing many of these services as we have a number of skills and capabilities in-house. Given that many of the services will no longer be required externally, there would be no benefit to the council in going to market for a longer term contract at this time. On this basis we are going to award an extension to the contract until 31.3.2017 to allow sufficient time for the in-sourcing opportunities to be explored and services to be in-sourced where appropriate. Any services that cannot be provided internally will be competed at the end of the contract.
