Castle Mead Primary School Extension

Tender description

The School Places Plan 2015 -2018 has identified the need to expand Castlemead Primary School by 210 places by 2017. Phase 2, as originally designed, includes 10 new classrooms with associated toilets and cloaks. Two classrooms within phase 1 were planned to be converted into a nursery and a further classroom would be converted into a studio/activity space. Upon completion the school would have 14 classrooms, a studio and large nursery. Phase 2 also includes additional hard play as shown on the attached Landscape Plan. All original planning drawings can be found at http://unidoc.wiltshire.gov.uk/UniDoc/Document/Search/DSA,840260 . The main hall, kitchen and admin spaces are already sufficient for a 2FE school. Whilst the school appreciates that they are bound by the building footprint that already has planning consent, they would like to reconsider the internal configuration. Ideally they would like to prevent any remodelling of the original building by locating the nursery in the new build, which would also enable closer working with the existing pre-school mobile. The project should be achieved within the total budget of £3.2m.
