Cambridgeshire County Council Mediation and Disagreement Resolution Services for children and young people from 0-25 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

Canbridgeshire County Council (CCC) wishes to work with providers for the provision of Mediation and Disagreement Resolution Services for children and young people from the age of 0-25years with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The Children and Families Act (2014) requires the Local Authority (LA) to commission and Independent Disagreement Resolution and Mediation Service for parents/careres and young people (over 16 years) with SEND between the ages of 0-25 years are required to speak to a mediator regarding: Refusal to assess or re-assess Disputes over content, actial or omitted, of an EHCP - excluding placement Ceasing to maintain an EHCP As a result of this discussion they can decide either to go to mediation or go immediately to Tribunal. While Statements and Section 139 as are being considered for conversion and transfer to EHCP's parents and carers also have the option to go to mediation regarding disputes over content, actual or omitted, of a Statement - including placement and ceasing to maintain a statement until it is converted to an EHCP.
