Tender description

Bath & North East Somerset Council and NHS Bath and North East Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) are reviewing the support offered to people (including adults and children / young people) who have their own social care or health budget (direct payment). We are holding an event for organisations who are either already providing this support or who are interested in providing support. Support to people with their direct payments can come in the form of accountancy support, support to be a good employer (HR support), information and advice around direct payments and support to pool budgets with other direct payment recipients and / or set up a ‘micro-enterprise’. Alongside existing direct payment support service organisations that may be operating or considering operating in the area, we would like to encourage attendance from organisations outside of the traditional health and social care support service sphere, including local accountancy firms and employment support agencies. This event will be a chance to learn more about the project, what our early thoughts are on how support services could work in the future and a chance to help us shape these services. In the afternoon session, providers can set up information stalls to promote their work and network with other attendees. Attendees will be able to hear from people who already have a direct payment, Directors within both the council and CCG about the project, and from Alex Fox. Alex Fox FRSA is CEO of Shared Lives Plus, the UK network for Shared Lives and Homeshare. He Chairs the NHS England, Dept. Health and Public Health England review of the Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise Sector and sits on the boards of NHSE’s Integrated Personal Commissioning programme and the Think Local, Act Personal partnership, with a community development lead for both partnerships. He is an Honorary Assistant Professor at Nottingham University, and a trustee of the Social Care Institute for Excellence and the Local Area Coordination Network. He has a regular column for Local Government Chronicle, blogs at http://alexfoxblog.wordpress.com/ and tweets as @AlexSharedLives. The event will be on the 17th May in the Banqueting Hall at the Guildhall. Lunch will be provided, so please contact wendy_sharman@bathnes.gov.uk to reserve your place and to let us know if you have any dietary, access or other requirements. Please also let us if you need a table to set up your stall for the afternoon session. Keywords: Direct Payments , Accountancy , Personal Budgets, Employment Support
