Tender description

Supported by the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), Coventry University will be opening the National Transport Design Centre (NTDC) at its Technology Park in spring 2017. The centre will focus on design research, post-graduate education and industry engagement, both with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the transport sector (automotive, rail, marine and aerospace), suppliers in those sectors and potential new entrants. The facility will be equipped with industrial standard, state-of-the-art equipment, to ensure that NTDC can offer high-quality design solutions, both physical and virtual, based on the outcomes of Coventry University's design research. 1 of the key facilities will be a 3D immersive VR environment, otherwise known generically as a ‘Powerwall’. This facility will provide the centre with the ability to display, interrogate and manipulate computer generated models in a virtual 3D environment. We have a budget of between 150 000 GBP and 220 000 GBP (excluding VAT). For this budget we require the supply, installation, training and an on-going warranty: to include a 1 year warranty, plus the option to extend annually for a further 2 years. We would also like the option to extend the warranty on an annual basis, for additional years. If additional funding becomes available, we may also wish to enhance the facility further. This contract has not been divided into lots due to the technical nature meaning we will require the same supplier who supplies the Powerwall, to also install and maintain this new facility.
