Tender description
Background: 1.1.1. The University of Cambridge, Department of Physics provides modern laboratory accommodation and research facilities. The department has several state of the art fabrication facilities used to produce thin films and devices, including several thermal evaporation chambers and glove-box spin-coaters. The materials set being used by the department for thin-film optoelectronics has recently expanded to include colloidal quantum dots, organic semiconductors and soluble inorganic semiconductors. These are not usually inter-compatible and cross-contamination must be avoided, so it is the department's intention to acquire a dedicated facility for the production of organic thin films and devices which is not shared by other materials classes. 2. Scope of Requirements: 2.1. The department requires a glove-box-mounted evaporator system capable of co-deposition of at least 2 organic materials combined with capability to evaporate at least 2 metals. 2.2. The system must also include a glove-box spin coater with integrated solvent scrubbers for air-free sample preparation. Transfer between the 2 modules must be a simple as possible. 2.3. Continuous heavy usage is anticipated by multiple users of differing levels of expertise, so the system must be rugged, easy to maintain and flexible. 2.4. The system will be located in a laboratory with limited access, so must be modular, to be fully assembled in situ. 2.5. The University is looking to have the equipment in situ by the 1st March, but understand that this may not be achievable in view of lead times. Bidders should approach this tender with a view to committing to a delivery time that is as close as possible to this date.
