Tender description
Each year, United Utilities produces circa 450 000 tonnes of sludge through its Wastewater Treatment Works across the region. 300 000 tonnes of this is recycled to agricultural land and 150 000 tonnes is burnt through the Company’s incinerator based at Shell Green. As an ethical and beneficial form of waste disposal, United Utilities applies its treated sludge to agricultural land. This treated Sludge is known as biosolids. The Company requires a thorough service for the loading, transportation, unloading, stockpiling and stockpile management for its Biolsolids to agricultural land. The Company is tendering this service to find the most commercially advantageous, compliant and sustainable way of disposing of its Biosolids in accordance with all necessary legislation and approved codes of practice. The Scope of this agreement will be for the provision of a comprehensive, reliable and sustainable transportation and unloading, stockpiling and stockpile service. Services shall include: — Designated account management — Daily liaison with the Company’s Recycling Controllers — Sharing new potential customer contacts with UUW Agricultural Advisors to support the Company in gaining a stable land bank — The loading and collection of biosolids from Wastewater sites — Provision of suitable vehicles, loading and unloading equipment. — Ability to manage the full volume of sludge produced at each site awarded — Requirement to weigh all biosolids in accordance with Appendix A — Transportation to end destination — Stockpiling of biosolids — Stockpile management — Daily use of the Company’s Recycling Management Database — Self-maintained documentation for auditing purposes — Provision of monthly weight tickets for all biosolid removals from site — Provision monthly data reports — Clear accessible audit trails — Use of 360 degree excavators and ground panels (where windrowing is not taking place) Lot 1- Scheduled Services. The scope of this lot is for the provision of Biosolids Transportation and Associated Services across the companies 13 Waste Water sites: — Burnley — Lancaster — Blackburm — Carlisle — Workington* — Penrith* — Shell Green / SBAP — Southport — Stockport — Leigh — Eleemere port — Bromborough — Crewe Lot 2 Reactive Services The scope of this lot is for the provision of a reactive services for biosolids produced above the scheduled services at the Company‘s Shell Green site.
