Tender description

The purpose is to alert any interested Economic Operators that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) intend to re-tender its contract requirements, with an approved slaughter Contractor, for the removal and slaughter of certain cattle as part of statutory disease eradication programmes which meets best value principles as well all necessary guidelines and animal disease management requirements in September 2016 on eTendersNI. The contract is to provide for the timely removal of infected or suspected animals from farms to slaughter facilities, in order to try to reduce further spread of the disease (both to other animals, and ultimately, to humans), the Department requires a Contractor to bid to: — Collect the relevant animals from farms, and transport them to their slaughter establishment; — Slaughter the animals, and arrange for the appropriate disposal of any unfit meat/carcases; Subject to meeting the requirements of the food hygiene legislation and satisfactory outcome of any other investigation deemed necessary by the Department, the Contractor may sell any meat fit for human consumption. The Contractor will pay to the Department the agreed price per kg for the meat fit for human consumption and charge the Department for haulage and disposal costs for cattle found to be unfit. The contract duration will be for a period of 4 years from the contract award date.
