Tender description

The aim of the wheelchair service is to provide high quality assessment and provision of wheelchair equipment, postural management, pressure relief cushioning to children and adults and maintenance service within the following clinical commissioning groups in Staffordshire: Cannock Chase CCG, Stafford and Surrounds CCG, South East Staffordshire and Seisdon Peninsula CCG, East Staffs CCG, North Staffordshire CCG, Stoke-on-Trent CCG. The service will provide assessment, maintenance and repairs as required and associated education delivered at home, within clinical settings or within venues agreed by the service users. The key objectives of this service are: — High patient, carer and referrer satisfaction; — The patient will be provided with the necessary and appropriate equipment to meet their clinical needs, in line with the service specification; — Referral to assessment (urgent), 2 weeks; — Receipt of referral to assessment (standard), 6 weeks; — Deliver the service within the 18 week referral to treatment standard pathway; — Prevent hospital admission and facilitate early discharge; — Maximise or maintain function, independence and quality of life of all patients; — All assessed provision is recorded and accessible for audit as required; — Provision of patient/carer education; — Maintenance service. More information: East Staffordshire CCG is consulting with its primary Health provider as to the status of wheelchair services within their current contract covered by this procurement. Whilst it is the current intention that if appropriate, East Staffordshire CCG will join the procurement in due course, at this stage East Staffordshire CCG cannot commit to participating in this procurement or that its relevant wheelchair services will fall within the scope of the contract. However, East Staffordshire CCG has the option that at a later date, subject to agreement with the other CCGs', it may participate and for its services to fall within the contract scope. This option may be exercised either during the procurement process or during the contract term. East Staffordshire CCG and the other participating CCG's also have yet to agree the contractual approach should the option for East Staffordshire CCG to participate be exercised. This may be by East Staffordshire CCG or through the participating CCGs' contracting with the successful provider on behalf of East Staffordshire CCG or through an alternative contract mechanism to be agreed between the participating CCGs' and East Staffordshire CCG. Further information about the Staffordshire wheelchair services procurement will be available in the Memorandum of Information (MoI) which will set out the scope and objectives of the procurement together with details of how to complete the invitation to tender documents (ITT). The intention is to publish the ITT on 1.4.2016 via the Midlands and Lancashire CSU Bravo e-tendering solution.
