Tender description

UK Shared Business Services Ltd as the Contracting Authority is putting in place a Contract on behalf of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The EPSRC is looking to support a mid-range facility in X-ray Crystallography for 3 years with an intention to extend to 5 years. The range of provision will be on a national level and will include high flux diffractometers with variable sample environments and X-ray sources. A range of detectors available with comprehensive capabilities will be required. The facility will look to develop non-ambient sample environments e.g. high/low T, high low P and gas atmospheres. Analysis of a range of powder and single crystal samples of varying sizes will be possible. Excellent sample handling facilities and expert advice at all levels and stages of interaction will be provided as part of the facility. The successful bidder will have a costed access plan, risk management and staff training model. The facility must be able to offer online access to data with appropriate data management. The facility will be an integral part of the research needs of the Engineering and Physical Sciences community.
