Tender description

Portsmouth Hospitals intends to procure for the provision of one or more Pathology Managed Service Contract(s) to include, Laboratory equipment, maintenance and servicing, all other associated consumables, reagents, auxiliary goods and equipment. The contract will also include training, associated services, installation, and enabling works. The winning bidder(s) will be expected to work strategically with the department to ensure that best value and operational efficiency are achieved and maintained for the Trust throughout the life of the contract. The contract is intended to cover: — Blood Sciences, including: o Clinical Chemistry and Immunoassay Analysis o Haematology o Immunology o Neonatal Sickle Cell Screening o Blood Gas Analysis — Microbiology, including: o Serology (wide repertoire of screening, diagnostic and confirmation assays of which the majority are automated with some manual) o Bacteriology (blood cultures, urine analysis, mycobacteriology, bacterial identification, antibiotic susceptibility) o Clostridium difficile toxin and Helicobacter pylori infection analysis o Bacteriological prepared media, laboratory reagents, laboratory plastics — Cellular Pathology. This list is not intended to be exhaustive, and is only provided to offer an indication of the types of specialities that the Trust may look to include in the final contract award. Furthermore, the Trust will require the service to be developed over the life of the contract in order to continue to meet its changing needs. Consideration is currently being given to whether this contract will be separated into lots, and how this will be divided. Final confirmation on this will be provided following the market engagement event, as part of the Contract Notice which will be published via the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). This is not a call for competition but an opportunity for the providers within this market to meet with members of the Pathology Department, Procurement and the project team who will outline the proposed vision for the Procurement of a Strategic Pathology Partnership Managed Service Contract. This contract is expected to commence on 1.4.2017, but this is provisional only.
