Tender description
Please note this is not the start of a procurement process. A separate contract notice will be published to cover this requirement. NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT), is a Special Health Authority in the NHS and is responsible for the provision of blood components and a range of associated laboratory and patient therapeutic services to hospitals in England and North Wales. Therapeutic Apheresis Services (TAS) is a team of medical and nursing staff which operate from 7 units across England (Bristol, London, Oxford, Leeds, Sheffield, Liverpool and Manchester). The purpose of this PIN is to inform the market of prospective requirements (as far as the details are known at this time) for consumables and machine maintenance to support provision of a multi-functional Apheresis system. The multi functioning Apheresis system performs the following procedures: Collection Procedures: — Stem Cell Collection; — Granulocyte Collection. Exchange Procedures: — Plasma Exchange; — Red Cell Exchange. Depletion Procedures: — White Cell Depletion; — Platelet Depletion. Bone Marrow Harvesting. NHSBT has a framework agreement with TerurmoBCT which expires in January 2017 and intends to award a new agreement for a minimum of 4 years. NHSBT has purchased 22 TerumoBCT Optia systems, which still have significant financial value. During the future tender process any new bid received will be evaluated using this financial value as part of the whole life cost model. It is NHSBT's understanding that there are no other platform providers which have the ability to provide all of the above listed procedures from 1 machine. The purpose of this PIN is to notify the market and ask interested bidders who have an alternative solution to contact NHSBT. In the absence of any responses by the date below, NHSBT intend to procure the above requirement from TerurmoBCT. If there are any interested bidders with an alternative platform please contact Phil Taylor by email (expressing their interest) at philip.taylor@nhsbt.nhs.uk by no later than 17:00 (GMT) on Friday, 6.5.2016 including a brief of overview (or a website link) of the Goods/ Services which might be offered. It is the intention of NHSBT to award a Framework Agreement or contract for this requirement by 1.2.2017.
