598 - High Pressure Emulsifier

Tender description

The inclusion of a high pressure emulsifier will greatly increase capability within the National Formulation Centre. The technique causes two liquid streams (which may or may not contain a solid phase) to come into contact under an impinging flow path. The liquid feed streams are delivered under high pressures through narrow channels and will therefore impact at extremely high velocities. This process maximizes the energy-per-unit fluid volume, resulting in uniform distributions of submicron particles. The ability to process emulsions and particle dispersions and to also disrupt cells highlights the versatility and usefulness of the technique.
