Provision of Healthwatch County Durham

Tender description

The primary objective of the Contract and in accordance with government guidance, Durham County Council (DCC) must commission a service to work with local people across the County. Healthwatch County Durham (HWCD) will be the local, independent consumer champion for health and social care, providing a focus for the voices of citizens and ensuring that local people and communities have a stronger influence and challenge on how health and social services are commissioned and provided in County Durham. The organisation will seek permission from Healthwatch England (HWE) to use the Healthwatch branding in its marketing and publicity by completing a local Healthwatch trade mark licence agreement. The Health and Social Care Act 2012 states that local Healthwatch must be a corporate body which is a social enterprise and satisfies such criteria as may be prescribed by regulations made by the Secretary of State. Charities, Community Interest Companies and Charitable Incorporated Organisations can also undertake local Healthwatch functions.
